Our work day
The Montessori classroom is indeed a childís world. It is geared to the size, the pace, and interests of children. It is designed to put the child at ease by giving freedom in an environment prepared with attractive learning materials. The Montessori classroom includes children of different ages. By placing a child in such a classroom, they are exposed to a wide range of possibilities. When they first begin school they will have the benefit of learning from older and more experienced children. Later on, they will be able to help others with the learning skills they have already mastered. Your child will thus develop social skills and cultural sensitivity which are essential in today's world.
The Montessori method of education places emphasis on the child progressing at his own pace. The child is given a presentation by the teacher, and individual time is spent with the child to ensure that the child understands what is expected. Students are assessed based on the teacherís observation and progress at the studentís own pace without undue pressure. Individual plans are formulated for each child and students are assessed on an ongoing basis. Parents are kept informed of the childís progress via daily work, interviews and progress sheets.
